How SermonLive works

  1. Listening, in the booth. The console runs in Chrome or Microsoft Edge on the sound-desk laptop and uses the browser's built-in speech recognition on the pastor's mic feed. Tip: feed the laptop from the mixer (an aux send into a USB audio interface) rather than a room mic. Other browsers (Safari, Firefox) can't do live recognition; there you can type or paste text, for example the sermon notes paragraph by paragraph.
  2. Translating. Each finished sentence goes to our server, which translates it into the languages you chose with an AI model, following your glossary and your tradition's usual Bible and church vocabulary. Typical delay: 1 to 3 seconds after the sentence ends.
  3. Delivering. Listeners' phones hold a live connection and show each sentence as soon as it's ready. The original English appears first, then the translation replaces it. If translation is slow, English captions still arrive right away (caption-only fallback).
  4. On screen. The overlay URL (/overlay/YOURCODE?lang=es) is a transparent page with large captions. Add it as a Browser Source in OBS or vMix, or as a Web element in ProPresenter.
  5. Read aloud. Listeners can turn on read-aloud; their phone's own text-to-speech voice reads the translation into their earbuds.

Before the service: the self-test

The console's self-test checks the browser, the microphone, a round trip of a test sentence through every language, and the connection to listeners, and sends a test caption to any phone already on the page. Run it during soundcheck.
